I am currently a BA International Relations and History student at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) University of London. History is more than a discipline, it is a subject that allows you to be analytical and have a different perspective of what happens around the globe. I enjoy studying a combined degree as it helps me to be more creative with my research and present work which combines both disciplines. I am intrigued by the thought of how the world has developed and imagine myself as being born in a different period such as being a merchant during the early modern period (1450-1800). I would ask myself questions like how would I survive in that era? what measures would I need to take to tackle any private/public issues I may have faced if I was born in that period. These are just some of the questions a historian would ask and would analyse all narratives and perspectives to find a solution that would best fit that situation. In my spare time I like to walk around new areas to explore. Furthermore, I like to play cricket and read non-fiction books especially related to history. I am also starting to take part in history blog writing to bring out my viewpoint in a different writing form accessible to a wider range of audience.
