Tutor Profile

Jasmine Michalowska

I graduated from the University of Leicester with an integrated Masters in Physics. I’m currently doing a part-time PhD in BioPhysics at University College London, where I’m hoping to shed light on how cancer develops at the earliest of stages. I’ve always loved physics and maths due to the elegance in which simple formulas and fundamental theories can be applied to complicated, real world situations, helping us understand and see the world around us in a way we couldn’t before. I enjoy trying to pass this passion on to students of all ages in both science and mathematics, helping them understand the relevance of these subjects outside of their exams, whilst instilling confidence in their own abilities to solve problems and persevere with challenging topics. I have extensive tutoring experience with students of all abilities, including those with special educational needs. I am compassionate and patient in my approach, and am able to adapt my teaching style dynamically to each student, focusing on their strengths while finding any weaknesses that may prevent them from achieving their goals. I develop long term, personalised study plans with each student and monitor their progress throughout our work together, ensuring they’re staying on track, and adapting the plan and my tutoring methods if there are any plateaus in progress. I am honest and open in my communication, ensuring parents and students are informed of study plans, progress and any additional attitudes and behaviours that are relevant to the student’s academic progress. I understand the importance of this collaborative approach in order to ensure tuition continues to be beneficial, and the student achieves their full potential.
